This free crochet chocolate covered strawberry amigurumi pattern uses the following special stitch tutorials:
- Single Crochet (YU/YO Method)

- Joining Rounds
This pattern is worked in the round, with each round joined at the end with a slip stitch. Unless otherwise instructed, the first stitch of your next round will always be worked into the same stitch as your joining slip stitch has been worked into.
Be sure to always keep the ‘right side’ of your stitches facing outwards as you work. The right side is the front side of the stitch that is facing you as you are completing each stitch.

Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry Leaves:
With yarn A (green), leave a beginning tail for tying and ch 4, sl st into 1st ch to form a ring.
Optional: for best results, try crocheting into the back bars of each chain stitch as you work round 1 of the strawberry leaves.
Rnd 1: [ch 7, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc into each of next 2 sts, 1hdc into each of next 2 sts, 1sc into next st, sl st into ring] 6 times (42).
Fasten off and leave an end tail for sewing.

Set aside for now and continue to round 1 of the strawberry.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Rounds 1 to 7:
With yarn B (red), make a magic ring (or ch 4, sl st into 1st st to form ring, ch 1).
Rnd 1: 6sc into ring, sl st into 1st st to join, ch 1 (6).
Rnd 2: 2sc into each st around, join, ch 1 (12).
Rnd 3: [1sc into next st, 2sc into next st] 6 times, join, ch 1 (18).
Rnd 4: [2sc into next st, 1sc into each of next 2 sts] 6 times, join, ch 1 (24).
Rnd 5: [1sc into each of next 3 sts, 2sc into next st] 6 times, join, ch 1 (30).
Rnd 6: 1sc into each st around, join, ch 1 (30).
Rnd 7: 1sc into each st around, join (30).
Fasten off yarn B and leave a short tail for tying.

Follow the instructions below for embroidering the seeds onto the crochet chocolate covered strawberry and attaching the leaves before continuing.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Embroidering Seeds:
With a length of yarn C (white), embroider seeds around the first 7 rounds of the crochet strawberry.
You may embroider the seeds anywhere and in any pattern you’d like, or follow the instructions below to match the method used in the example photos.

For an exact replica, the example crochet chocolate covered strawberry has 6 seeds embroidered over top of round 4, between each pair of plain single crochets (or the center of each ‘1sc into each of next 2 sts’ sequence).
Then, a second sequence of 6 seeds are embroidered over top of round 6, spaced evenly between the first set of seeds over round 4.
Secure your embroidery with a knot on the inside of your piece and trim any excess tail.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Attaching Leaves:
Retrieve the strawberry leaves piece that you’ve set aside earlier.
Using the beginning and end tails left on the leaves, thread each tail through to the inside of the strawberry and secure with a knot.

Optionally, you may further secure your leaves by using your end tail to sew back up through the strawberry, through a different point of the leaves, and then back into the strawberry once more.
Repeat this step in as many spots as desired, according to your preference. The example strawberry leaves shown above are secured between each pair of leaves around.
Once you’ve secured both tails with a knot on the interior of your strawberry, cut any excess tail and continue to round 8 of the crochet chocolate covered strawberry.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Rounds 8 to 13:
Join yarn D (brown) by inserting your hook into the last stitch of round 7 and pulling up a loop of yarn D.
Tie the tails of both yarn B and yarn D together on the interior of your piece to secure your ends.
Rnd 8: sl st into each st around, join, ch 1 (30).
For best results, take extra care to not work your slip stitches too tightly!
If you find that your slip stitches are cinching your crochet chocolate covered strawberry, try loosening your tension or sizing up your hook for round 8.

Optional: if you’d like a more durable color change, try working the stitches in round 9 through both the back loop of each slip stitch AND the front loop of round 7 directly behind, as seen above.
Rnd 9: 1sc into BLO of each sl st around, join, ch 1 (30).
Rnd 10: 1sc into each st around, join, ch 1 (30).
Rnd 11: 1sc into each st around, join, ch 1 (30).
Rnd 12: 1sc into each st around, join, ch 1 (30).
Rnd 13: 1sc into each st around, join, ch 1 (30).
Secure your working loop with a stitch marker and follow the instructions below for adding eyes, mouth, and blush before continuing.
Adding Eyes:
Using the example piece below as reference, insert both safety eyes through the front of your piece (on the opposite side from your joining seam).
The safety eyes should be inserted between rounds 10 and 11* and should sit 6 stitches apart.
*Be sure when counting your rounds to include your round of slip stitches, as it blends in.

Adding Mouth:
Rotate your piece so that the beginning rounds face upwards and your last round faces downwards.
Using the example piece below as reference, embroider a mouth using black embroidery floss.
The mouth should be embroidered over top of round 12* and be centered between the eyes. The mouth will be 2 stitches wide and 1 round tall.
*Be sure when counting your rounds to include your round of slip stitches, as it blends in.

Begin by inserting your needle from inside to outside, 1 round down and 2 stitches to the right from where you’ve inserted the left eye. Pull through and leave some tail for tying later.
Then, insert your needle again, 2 stitches to the right, and out again, 1 round down and 1 stitch to the left from where you’ve just inserted, and pull through.

Pass your needle up and underneath the horizontal strand you’ve just created and pull through. Then, insert your needle back into the same space as you’ve last exited from.
Pull your thread through and tug it down slightly until it forms a V-shape. Gently tie both ends together inside your piece, but take extra care not to pull the threads too tight!
Adding Blush:
Using the example piece below as reference, embroider a blush line using pink embroidery floss next to each eye.
Each blush line should start 1 round down (between rounds 11 and 12*) and 1 stitch outwards from where each eye was inserted, and span 1 stitch length outwards (away from the center of the face).
*Be sure when counting your rounds to include your round of slip stitches, as it blends in.

Begin by inserting your needle from inside to outside, 1 round down and 1 stitch outwards from where you’ve inserted the eye.
Pull through, leaving some tail inside for tying later. Then, insert your needle back in, 1 more stitch outwards.
If using yarn, you may skip ahead to tying both ends together on the inside of your piece.
If using embroidery floss, pass your needle back out through the same space as you’ve last exited from and pull through. Reinsert your needle, again, 1 stitch outwards in the same place as before.
Repeat these last steps 3 more times, or until you are satisfied with the size of your blush. Then, gently tie both ends together on the inside of your piece.
Take extra care as you tie your ends not to pull the threads too tight! After finishing your knot, trim any excess length.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Rounds 14 to 19:

At this point, you may begin stuffing as you go.
However, please note that you will be embroidering onto your strawberry again after round 19, so you may also choose to wait to stuff your piece until the end if you don’t want the stuffing interfering with your embroidery.
Choose whichever method works best for you!
Rnd 14: [sc2tog over next 2 sts, 1sc into each of next 8 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (27).
Rnd 15: [1sc into each of next 7 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (24).
Rnd 16: [sc2tog over next 2 sts, 1sc into each of next 6 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (21).
Rnd 17: [1sc into each of next 5 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (18).
Rnd 18: [sc2tog over next 2 sts, 1sc into each of next 4 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (15).
Rnd 19: [1sc into each of next 3 sts, sc2tog over next 2 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (12).
Secure your working loop with a stitch marker and follow the instructions below for embroidering on the decorative chocolate lines before continuing.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Embroidering Chocolate Lines:
Using a length of yarn C (white), embroider three lines of decorative chocolate across the front of your chocolate covered strawberry, below the face.
You may embroider your lines using any method desired. However, for an exact match to the example photos, you may follow the instructions below.

The example crochet chocolate covered strawberry has lines embroidered between rounds 14 and 15, rounds 16 and 17, and rounds 18 and 19.
Again, be sure when counting your rounds to include your round of slip stitches, as it blends in.
Starting with the bottom line between rounds 18 and 19, sew a dashed line (alternating over and under each stitch) around about half of the circumference of the strawberry and centered with the face.
Then, moving back the opposite direction, sew another dashed line between rounds 16 and 17. Repeat once more with a dashed line between rounds 14 and 15.
Finish your embroidered lines by passing your needle, from top to bottom, through each dashed line you’ve sewn. Trace your lines back to your beginning tail, making sure to thread your needle to the back when switching between each of the three lines.
Once you reach back to your beginning tail, knot both tails together on the inside of your strawberry and trim any excess length.

If you’ve omitted stuffing your strawberry so far, you may do so now. Then, continue to round 20 of your crochet chocolate covered strawberry.
Crochet Chocolate Covered Strawberry – Rounds 20 to 21:
Rnd 20: [sc2tog over next 2 sts, 1sc into each of next 2 sts] 3 times, join, ch 1 (9).
Rnd 21: [1sc into next st, sc2tog over next 2 sts] 3 times, join (6).
Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing closed.
Sewing Closed:

To sew the bottom hole closed, pass the needle, from front to back, through the front loop only of each stitch around and then pull tight. Secure your sewing with a knot, trim the tail, and sew in any remaining length.
